Consilient Iconoclast is a personal blog built on one conviction: the seams between fields are artifacts of our attention, not features of the world. The writing here follows a single question wherever it leads — through the software I build, the things I read, the hobbies I take too seriously, and the failures that teach more than any clean success.

I'm Pavitra M. Kansara. I build things and write about the thinking underneath them. A software engineer by profession and a lifelong tinkerer, what pulls at me is structural problems in the systems that shape how people live — and the work of filling those gaps with technology.

The areas that hold my attention: AI; data collection and curation; ad-tech; mobile; misinformation; human psychology; social platforms where connection is made through specificity and shared cultural heritage; and consumer-facing applications — their proliferation, or their conspicuous absence. I think about all of it a great deal, and I spend a great deal of time writing about it. Hence this blog.

Two words in the name, both load-bearing. Consilient, for the belief that knowledge is one connected web — that a problem in retrieval and a problem in reading rhyme, that unit economics and a story's third act obey the same tensions. Iconoclast, for the idol worth breaking: the idea that a serious person has to pick a lane and stay in it.
